President / Founder
Jose Mendez is the President and Founder of The Excel Group, bringing more than 40 years of experience in the construction industry and 31 years of ownership and leadership at the firm. Over four decades, Jose has built a reputation as a disciplined, solutions-driven leader with deep expertise in project and construction management across complex commercial and institutional environments.
Under Jose’s leadership, The Excel Group has grown into a trusted construction partner for some of the most respected organizations in the country, including JPMorgan Chase, JLL, Constantini Engineering, Hazen and Sawyer, SL Green, Empire State Realty Trust, and George Comfort & Sons. His hands-on approach, attention to detail, and commitment to execution have made The Excel Group synonymous with reliability and performance in high-stakes construction projects.
Beyond the jobsite, Jose is a dedicated civic and nonprofit leader. He has served on the boards of the Boys and Girls Club, the Committee for Hispanic Children and Families, Primary Stages, and the American Express Centurion Advisory Board. His board service reflects a lifelong commitment to mentorship, community development, and expanding opportunities for future generations.

Elan Padeh
Managing Director / Partner
Elan Padeh is a real estate executive with more than 25 years of experience leading transformative residential and mixed-use developments across the United States. Over his career, he has been involved in more than $12 billion in completed real estate transactions spanning development, acquisitions, repositioning, and asset management.
Elan built and led some of New York’s most recognized real estate firms, including The Developers Group and MNS, overseeing the planning, financing, and marketing of hundreds of projects that redefined Brooklyn’s skyline, among them The Edge and One Brooklyn Bridge Park. His experience extends beyond New York, with successful ventures and advisory work in North Carolina, Kansas City, California, Florida, and New Jersey, where he has focused on identifying emerging markets and creating long-term value through strategic development and investment.
A trusted advisor to city agencies, institutional investors, and private developers, Elan consulted on the Williamsburg waterfront rezoning, collaborating with Cooper Robertson and the New York City Department of Planning to help shape one of the city’s most successful urban revitalizations.
Recognized by The New York Times and other national publications for his industry insight, Elan has been invited to speak at Columbia University and New York University on development strategy, market innovation, and the future of urban housing. He also served on the Board of the John Starks Foundation for Education, supporting initiatives that expand educational opportunities for underserved youth.

Walberto “Wally” Ramos
Managing Director Commercial / Partner
With over 20 years of experience in construction project management, Walberto Ramos has built a distinguished career delivering complex projects with precision, efficiency, and strategic oversight. Throughout his career, he has partnered with some of the industry’s most respected global firms, including JLL, CBRE, and Cushman & Wakefield, leading high-profile initiatives across diverse asset classes.
Known for strong leadership, client advocacy, and a solutions-driven approach, Mr. Ramos specializes in aligning stakeholder objectives, mitigating risk, and delivering projects on time and within budget. His expertise spans the full project lifecycle, from preconstruction planning and cost control to execution and closeout, ensuring operational excellence at every phase.
A graduate of Columbia University, Walberto combines academic rigor with real-world execution, bringing both strategic insight and hands-on experience to every engagement.

Rosann Caruso
Director of Business Operations
Rosann Caruso keeps Excel Construction running like a well-oiled machine. Born and raised in Brooklyn, she brings a no-nonsense work ethic, sharp organization skills, and a get-it-done attitude to the office every day. As the Director of Business Operations Rosanne coordinates, operates and manages communication, and ensures the details never slip through the cracks. She also specializes in insurance review, handling documentation with precision and care.

Carl H. Mangelsdorf IV
Director of Southern Division
Carl H. Mangelsdorf IV is a Project Manager at The Excel Group, bringing a fresh yet capable perspective to the team. He has an extensive background in the Transportation sector leveraging a mechanical engineering degree as well as interpersonal and management skills to climb the corporate ladder.
Over the past three years he has focused on construction management, coordinating projects with an eye toward efficiency, quality, and timeliness.
Colleagues know Carl for his professional demeanor paired with a friendly, approachable style, he works closely with clients and crews alike to ensure smooth progress from project start through completion. He thrives on collaboration, clear communication, and problem-solving in real time, helping deliver construction projects that meet both budget and expectations.

Michael Schure
Director of Project Management
Michael Schure is a Project Engineer at The Excel Group specializing in corporate interior renovation. A native New Yorker from the East Village known for his versatility, technical depth, and solutions driven mindset. He brings a multidisciplinary background spanning corporate logistics, crisis analysis, solutions implementation, software infrastructure programing, electrical engineering, and architectural design.
Michael holds dual bachelor’s degrees: a BTech in Architectural Technology and a BBA in Business Administration. He is recognized as a true jack-of-all-trades problem solver, integrating technical insight with operational execution to resolve complex project challenges and drive results expeditiously.

Diana Vasquez
Director of Marketing
Diana Vasquez brings 13 years of experience in real estate sales, with the last 7 years focused on strategic real estate marketing. Her background combines hands-on transaction expertise with brand development, lead generation, and growth strategy, allowing her to align marketing initiatives directly with revenue and operational goals.
